Wait, what goes first? A blueprint for the ideal skin-care routine!

So, between the raging, sun-less pandemic, and Uni squeezing the life out of me, my skin has really been through it. I’ve found that free-styling it hasn’t really worked out for me, and I’ve had crater-like pimples to, unfortunately, testify this. But what do you do when you don’t even know where tf to start? Don't trip boo-boo , I gotchu. It’s been one hell of a journey, but there is a method to the madness!




There are so many products out there, rich with all kinds of benefits for the skin, but how can you enjoy them without truly knowing how and when to use them? Slathering on random creams will only get you so far. You might not know which products you need and the ones with the numbers and letters can be particularly intimidating- cue trauma from GCSE Maths. But, needing a bunch of expensive creams and serums for the perfect skincare regime, is a myth. You could literally use 2 or 3 of these products, in the correct order and genuinely be dumbfounded the next morning, when you wake up with glass-like skin.



1. Most importantly; wash yo face honey! You need a fresh clean canvas if you’re going to do this. The last thing you want is to bury any sebum or dirt in products. An exfoliating face wash will do you good, maybe even with a cleansing brush if you’re feeling fancy. A splash of cold water at the end, may seem like torture but your skin will love you for it. Where needed; be sure to sprinkle a few face masks into your week!


2. Cleanse! I know you washed your face properly; I believe you. But that cotton pad lightly soaked in cleanser, is going to prove otherwise in a minute. Residue is a stubborn resident to evict.


3. Toner; you need for closing those pores- before any dirt weasels its way in there.


4. Serum that baby up. Your skin is, oh-so-thirsty for those nutrients and antioxidants. In the mornings, you want to get your Vitamin C on there; to fight any hyperpigmentation and to brighten your skin. A splash of hyaluronic acid will blow your mind. Hyaluronic acid really do be that bitch, it traps moisture into the skin. To optmise your results; spritz some of Mario Badescu’s facial spray on your face (any of them, they’re all amazing!), between layers. Serums love to retain water levels on the skin, which is what creates a fresh, plump complexion.


At night, retinol is your Jordan. Perfect for hydration, (hyaluronic acid wouldn’t go amiss, nor the facial sprays) and anti-aging. The night is a prime time in your skin’s schedule to heal, and rejuvenate itself. You’re skin will be eager to digest these products and come morning, you’ll be reaping the rewards.


5. Eye cream is a good idea, am or pm. I don’t think crow’s feet will be in fashion anytime soon. Like ever.


6. * preferred spot treatment.*


7. Now, the most crucial (in the mornings), yet neglected product, the underdog of skin care. Sun cream, ideally one with a high SPF. This is the secret to that blemish-free, porcelain skin, whether its sunny or not. Protection from UV rays and has exceptional anti-aging properties? Win-win.


8. Finally, seal this masterpiece off with some good old moisturiser.



And there you have it. The ingredients to Goddess-like skin, a few months before the summer; the perfect time to train your skin into that bullet-proof routine, for that dewy, no-make-up-needed skin, ready for smooches💋from the sun xxx
